Dear 6th Grade Parents, Hello, We are off to a wonderful start!! This year we will continue to utilize a “Working Lunch” and “Lunch Bunch” as we have done in the past. The “Working Lunch” is available to all students M-F…if a student does not do well on a D.G. (Daily Geography), assignment/assessment/project, they are given the opportunity to come in during their lunch time to re-do and/or work on the assignment, which in turn should raise their grade. The kids are very happy that we are giving them this opportunity. They are given one day to come in and re-do their work…they are all aware that this is not required and it is their responsibility to come in on their own. Another system we will be using to monitor behavior is called “Lunch Bunch”. I will be keeping track of individual student infractions (tallies) of school classroom rules/procedures. Once a week, usually Fridays, if a student has accumulated 3 or more tallies during the week, they will have a 15 minute re-teaching with me while eating their lunch. Students will be asked to write a plan as to how they are going to fix and/or change their behavior to meet the expectations of my classroom. Expectations are as such: on-time to class, have all necessary materials for class with them, copying down the objective/learning target, and act appropriately during class. Should you have any questions at all about either one of these policies or any other concerns you may have during the school year, feel free to contact me at 279-6813, by email: gatesc@live.siouxcityschools.com, or come to school so we can visit. Thank you for working with us on this matter. I appreciate everything you do. Sincerely, Mrs. Gates Welcoming Engaged Safe Trustworthy Together Everyone Achieves More
